Bernardaud Unveils “Touki”, an Original Sculpture by Omar Victor Diop
In the Wolof language, the word “tukki” refers to travel. Inspired by this term, his Senegal roots and his discovery of the Bernardaud workshops in Limoges, Omar Victor Diop set off on a journey to the very heart of the art of porcelain. From this came “Touki”, the Dakar-born artist’s very first three-dimensional creation. With only 199 pieces produced, this sculpture embodies both the expertise and craftsmanship for which Bernardaud is renowned, as well as Omar Victor Diop’s distinctive artistry. To celebrate and illustrate the stages of this odyssey at the origin of “Touki”, the Bernardaud Boutique hosted a festive evening on Thursday, March 27th. We met Omar Victor Diop, alongside Michel Bernardaud, Frédéric Bernardaud, Charles Bernardaud, Frédéric Fontan, Sitor Senghor…
