CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2024

As per tradition, Milan Fashion Week ended with the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards, organized by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion in collaboration with the Ethical Fashion Initiative of the United Nations ITC Agency, and with the support of the Municipality of Milan.

Teatro alla Scala has been once again the chosen location, and the symbol of the event keeps on being Michelangelo Pistoletto’s Terzo Paradiso. The work provided inspiration to Balich Wonder Studio, which collaborated with CNMI to design and produce the ceremony. The installation is an interaction with the work and creates a space for gathering, characterized by shades of blue, white and gold, a symbol of man’s responsibility in building his own future.

The evening, presented by actress Freida Pinto, started with the wonderful performance of Nicoletta Manni, Étoile of the Teatro alla Scala, who danced the famous choreography of La Luna by Maurice Béjart.

The ceremony saw the presentation of 10 awards, assigned by an independent jury, including Pistoletto himself. The Sfa Education of Excellence Award was won by Moncler, while The Ellen MacArthur Foundation Award for Circular Economy was won by Diesel and the Climate Action Award by Dirt Charity. Zazi Vintage got the Diversity and Inclusion Award, while Gucci the Human Capital & Social Impact Award. Lenzing won the Biodiversity & Water Award while the Groundbreaker Award was given to Golden Goose & Yatay. Brioni won the Craft and Artisanship Award and the Bicester Collection Award for Emerging Designers was assigned to Escvdo. An emotional Brunello Cucinelli finally took the Visionary Award, which he affectionately dedicated to all the youths and in particular to the designers from his style office.

“In recent years, the Sustainable Fashion Awards have been an opportunity to give narrative space to numerous realities. From the most solid and renowned, to the lesser-known, but no less important ones that have become case studies for many operators. These Awards will once again be an opportunity to highlight the work that we are committed to carrying out,” says Carlo Capasa, President of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion.

“It is great to support CNMI’s vision for sustainable fashion with our creativity. As creators of live productions around the world, we firmly believe that an event must always find a responsible balance between entertainment and resource consumption. Our mission is to create wonder and celebrate beauty, while promoting a better future,” said Marco Balich, Chairman of Balich Wonder Studio.
