Astier de Villatte Welcomes Serena Carone’s Poetic Vision to Milan
Astier de Villatte is used to take on a variety of projects, bringing life to both unusual and surprising pieces. The Maison produces ceramics, recreates emblematic perfumes, and is even behind a one-of-a-kind guidebook to Paris. Inspired by Astier de Villatte’s ceramic pieces, artist Serena Carone is unveiling her newest wonderful creations at the occasion of Milan Design Week. They will be displayed in the Gallery area adjacent to the company’s boutique.
The artist tackles an unexpected theme: spills! Like a testimony to the fragility of things, she came up with a series of works made of ceramics and enamel, all hand-painted and kiln-fired. There is a cup and its teaspoon lying in a pool of coffee, a heat-damaged coffee pot overflowing with a thick coffee mixture, the saucepan and its avalanche of spaghetti… At the preview, this flow of creativity drew the attention of Benoît Astier de Villatte, Ivan Pericoli and other guests such as Maddalena Fossati, Tommaso Sacchi, Carlo Caraceli, Gilberto Ceriani, Ania Szostak and Shinsuke Kawahara.
