Asia Now celebrates the young Japanese art scene

A must-attend event for lovers of contemporary Asian art, Asia Now opened this week the doors of its fourth edition on the sidelines of the FIAC. From 17 to 21 October, Claude and Alexandra Fain, founders of the fair, invited professionals, collectors and amateurs to discover this year’s programme in Paris’ 8th arrondissement. After South Korea in 2017, the young Japanese art scene was in the spotlight this year thanks to special projects curated by Emmanuelle de Montgazon. Highlights of the fair included the in situ installation by artist Makoto Aida and performances by Teppei Kaneuji. This year, Asia Now also partnered with the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo for an exhibition. A place of dialogues and discoveries, Asia Now brought together some forty international galleries. Not to be missed this year were the two screenings of “Kusama-Infinity”, a documentary on the life and groundbreaking work of the mythical Japanese artist.
