In Turin, the 25th edition of Artissima opens its doors

In 2018, Artissima celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary. With 1000 artists, 195 galleries from 35 countries, 8 categories, 7 awards, and more than 50,000 visitors, Artissima confirms its importance on the international contemporary art scene. Led for the second year by Ilaria Bonacossa, the fair was inaugurated on November 1st and opens its doors to the public from Nov. 2nd to 4th at the OVAL in Turin. Internationally recognized for its attention to experimental practices and as a platform for emerging artists and galleries, Artissima is the only fair in Italy dedicated exclusively to contemporary art. “Time is on our side” is the common thread of this edition. Time has a double value here: an eloquent past and a future open to creative research. The fair always starts from its own history and identity – marked by the coherence of a path of constant renewal and experimentation, to participate in the construction of the future history of art. A new section, “Sound”, devoted to contemporary sound investigations, will be added to the fair this year. “Sound” is located outside Artissima’s institutional spaces at the OGR (Officine Grandi Riparazioni in Turin) and presents 15 monographic projects dedicated to sound, selected by an international duo of curators: Yann Chateigné Tytelman and Nicola Ricciardi. Artissima’s vitality and innovative strength are reflected throughout the city, thanks to a collaboration with numerous public institutions, museums, foundations, galleries and, consequently, with the cultural projects of the region.
