With “Natures Mortes”, the Palais de Tokyo gives carte blanche to Anne Imhof

From May 22nd to October 24th, the Palais de Tokyo gives carte blanche to Anne Imhof. In 2017, the German artist, a graduate from the Hochschule für Bildende Künste-Städelschule in Francfort, made waves at the 57th Venice Biennale with “Faust”. Her masterful installation presented at the German Pavillon eventually led her to win the Golden Lion. Today, Anne Imhof presents ‘Natures Mortes’, an all-embracing, polyphonic work holding the entirety of the Palais de Tokyo. Known for her radical work inspired by her experience of the Francfort and Berlin club and music scenes, Anne Imhof invited about thirty artists around a glass labyrinth that redefine the bare spaces of the Palais. Among them, her closest collaborator, the American artist, composer and model Eliza Douglas, who not only presents her own paintings but also collaborated with Imhof of the exhibition’s sound installations. Co-curated by Emma Lavigne and Vittoria Matarrese, the exhibition gathers the likes of Wolfgang Tillmans, Cy Twombly, Sigmar Polke, Mohamed Bourouissa, Cyprien Gaillard, Cady Noland, and more…
