Amanda Seyfried Leads An Unconventional Musical Inspired by Ann Lee

Palazzo Del Cinema, Venice

Music and history took over the Lido’s catwalk with “The Testament of Ann Lee”, a musical retracing the life of the 18th-century preacher, brought to the screen by Norwegian director, screenwriter and actress Mona Fastvold. Giving voice and face to Ann Lee is superstar Amanda Seyfried, entrusted with the task of portraying a controversial woman who preached sexual abstinence as the path to God’s kingdom and was revered as the “mother of spiritual things.”

On the red carpet, the atmosphere was a blend of past and present, history and cinema. Elegant and composed, the director walked alongside a focused yet smiling Seyfried, followed closely by the rest of the cast, including Lewis Pullman, Viola Prettejohn, and Thomasin McKenzie.

The red carpet became a living stage, evoking the entry of ancient history into the present of the Venetian festival. The audience watched, photographers clicked, and every step of the catwalk reminded us that thanks to cinema, one can breathe the past, the music, and the epic of a woman still shrouded in mystery.
