Ann Demeulemeester SS25: A Royal Fling with Punk

With an unexpected blend of punk and royal elegance, Ann Demeulemeester’s SS25 Fashion Show plunged the audience into quite a unique and grungy atmosphere. Kudos to artistic director Stefano Gallici, who put together an outstanding catwalk, encompassed by flower arrangements and accompanied by electric guitars, creating a spellbinding mise-en-scène. Each guest received an inspiration booklet featuring photographs by Blank Jet City or Blemishes, compiling the eclectic influences behind this season’s collection.

While staying true to the brand’s heritage, the collection explores the contrasts between romanticism and rebellion. From regency suits and frilly shirts to punk pieces such as leather waistcoats and perforated T-shirts, Ann Demeulemeester manages to blend classic and avant-garde elements with a lyrical approach. Fabrics are key, as they emphasise this duality at the core of the line. Bleached denim is set against delicate lace and light knits, which seem to fly away any moment. This interplay of textures echoes that of suppleness and looseness, demonstrating that opposites can coexist with an almost immature sense of casual.

The collection embodies Stefano Gallici’s vision for the Maison: an exploration of opposites, where light and darkness, harmony and dissonance intersect. All set against a backdrop of musical distortion and rebellious romanticism, epitomising the designer’s rock’n’roll artistic spirit.

We crossed paths with Paris Jackson, Moses Sumney, Chloe Cherry, Willy Cartier, and Jessica Wang, to name but a few.
