Aniye Records’ Gothic Dolls
“One need not be a chamber, to be haunted, One need not be a House, The Brain has Corridors surpassing Material Place” wrote poet Emily Dickinson. There’s a god inside of us, one that hides our secrets, fears and desires. “For safer, of a Midnight meeting, Eternal Ghost, Than an interior confronting, that whiter host” continues Dickinson’s poem. A frightening look inside oneself, so difficult no one’s willing to have it anymore. No one except Aniye Records. The brand opens its fall-winter 2023/24 show with that inner ghost dressed in white lace. The collection is called Gothic Ghost and inspired by the maidens of 18th Gothic novels, amidst torn white nightgowns, crucifixes and corsets. The first silhouettes come in white or cream. They are gothic dolls wearing sequined jumpsuits and transparent minidresses, velvet jackets and long necklaces. Seated on the front row, Annalisa, Lin Lin and Korlan Madi.
