Almine Rech Presents George Rouy at the Château de Boisgeloup
This autumn, the Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso unveils a new dialogue between a contemporary artist and its collection at Pablo Picasso’s sculpture workshop, the Château de Boisgeloup. Supported by Almine Rech, Hannah Barry Gallery, and Hauser & Wirth, the exhibition SHADOWING features a series of new works by George Rouy. Born in 1994, the British artist has developed a distinctive practice in which genres, forms, and registers intersect, creating fluid representations where transformation and mutation define the contours of bodies that transcend their role as mere models. Oscillating between feverish dreams and charismatic presences that seem to spill beyond their frames (supporting them rather than simply inhabiting them) Rouy’s subjects embody an expressiveness in motion. They exude an energy that contradicts their apparent stillness, provoking a tangible emotion that reverberates throughout each composition.
At the exhibition opening, we had the pleasure of meeting Almine Rech Picasso and George Rouy, alongside George Ruiz-Picasso, Pierre-André Maus, Julian Solms, and many others.
