Alfalibra Gallery lifts the curtain on its Ballet Couture

While its experience in the art world is no longer to be made with exhibition productions in Paris and beyond, Alfalibra agency took a step further this week with the opening of its own gallery. A 150 square-meter space in the heart of the 3rd arrondissement, it is thought as a creative laboratory. It welcomes “Ballet Couture” as its first exhibition, on a proposal by its founder Frédéric Fontan. As it introduces a 2018 curation based on the theme of “Transcendence”, the gallery has chosen to highlight the greatest international ballet dancers (some such as Hugo Marchand, Germain Louvet and Amandine Albisson, who attended the opening) from the perspective of their relationship with costume. Many great designers have dressed the Étoiles – including Jean Paul Gaultier, Riccardo Tisci and Hervé Leger – so much so that fashion ends up infiltrating the photographs presented, especially when they are signed by great names such as Mapplethorpe or Horst P. Horst. The exhibition also gives the opportunity to discover some rare creations from private collections in dialogue with contemporary works that the most convinced collector can acquire..
