Alexandre Mattiussi Adds a New Chapter to AMI’s History
All dressed in pastel hues. That’s how we would better describe the new collection that Alexandre Mattiussi presented yesterday at the Opéra Bastille. A collection that, while preserving the essence of AMI, exudes an unprecedented singularity. More poetic, perhaps more mature. Prélude, the title of this new chapter, seems to follow a guiding thread, that of the colours first, then of the cuts. Silhouettes flow seamlessly, one after the other, organically, to the rhythm of an almost classical soundtrack. Mattiussi seems to have finally refocused on what matters most: timeless pieces made of the highest quality materials, neat cuts, impeccable tailoring and oversized yet controlled jackets. Leather too, and sequins, always delicate. In a nutshell, AMI presented a collection that was both moving and nonchalant, definitely mature, that seems to open a new chapter in the history of a brand that, in 12 years of existence, has become a symbol of Parisian chic. An alluring 20-minute show closed on a high note by Charlotte Rampling and a poetic live performance by American artist Moses Sumney.
