Alcova, The Future of Design
A much awaited event of this year’s Fuorisalone, Alcova opened its doors yesterday with great style. The project, installed in the Ex Macello di Porta Vittoria, was created by Valentina Ciuffi in collaboration with Studio Vedèt and Joseph Grima with Space Caviar. After the great success of the last four editions, this year’s edition was indeed highly anticipated and should, once again, be a standing ovation. More than 70 projects focused on sustainability will be presented on the stage of 62 Viale Molise, a historic structure built in 1914 and designed by Giannino Ferrini and Giovanni Filippini. Among the many projects presented are the STACKLAB chairs, whose multicoloured forms use recycled fabrics and lighting designed by Korean designer Sangmin Oh, but also an installation designed by Nemo Architects for Habitarematerials and another by Le French Design & Mobilier National. Various events were organized in Milan to launch the event, with the participation of major figures in international design such as Fabio Novembre, Hannes Krause, Richard Hutten, Alexander Werz, Alberto Artesani, David Lopez Quincoces, Jiri Krejcirik, Tom Dixon, Frederik De Wachter and India Mahdavi, among others.
