Aguttes presents first auction dedicated to design
First independent French auction house Aguttes prepared this week its very first auction dedicated to design. Within the framework of its off-site programme, it welcomed its new expert of 20th century decorative arts and design, Romain Coulet, and honored French, Italian and Scandinavian design at the Hôtel Arturo López in Neuilly-sur-Seine. Many specialists were present this week to discover the sharp selection of 150 pieces that were auctioned on Monday, May 7. Among the remarkable designers honored are none other than Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Gio Ponti, Piero Fornasetti and Ettore Sottsass, whose 100th anniversary of birth is celebrated in 2018. In the lounges of this Louis XVI style private mansion, gallery owner Jacques Lacoste and designer Hervé Van der Straeten gathered around the founder of the house, Mr Claude Aguttes.
