A Pleasant Stay at Hotel Voyeur by Seletti

Seletti Store, Milan

Seletti and Tracey Snelling transform voyeuristic fascination into art with “Hotel Voyeur”. Resulting from the first collaboration between the artist and the Italian design brand, the project premiered at Milan Design Week, in the Seletti store at Via Garibaldi 117. “Hotel Voyeur” transposes the basic elements of a table lamp into a hotel facade made of bricks: six windows broadcast looping videos, between film sequences and real-life clips. On the top of the building stands the red neon sign “Hotel Voyeur”, with adjustable intensity. The lamp by Seletti and Tracey Snelling recreates a miniature cosmos and, on the occasion of Design Week, resets the distance between observed and observer, with the possibility of entering hotel rooms and being watched.

Outside the store, in fact, is a site-specific installation created in collaboration with Samsung: the Hotel Voyeur lamp takes on an almost natural dimension, with the six windows broadcasting live footage. Inside the store is a set that reproduces the interior of a room with vintage furnishings, and those who wish can enter and be filmed, ending up projected onto Seletti’s facade. The video can then be used to customize the lamp, which can be ordered directly from the store. Other new products that can be seen in the Seletti store at Milan Design Week 2025 include Superfurniture: a project featuring the latest furniture and a selection of new lamps and accessories. From architecture to design, from the public to the private, from the extraordinary to the every day: the shift in perspective of Seletti and Tracey Snelling’s Hotel Voyeur is the first in a series of buildings that will go on to build a small ideal city. The guests that had a metaphorical, vacation at Seletti and Tracey Snelling hotel were Nina Zilli, Marcantonio, Valeria Vedovatti, Federico Russo, Greta Ferro, Nicolas Ballario and many others.
