Jonathan Anderson, Paolo Roversi and Hubert Barrère, Jury presidents at the 35th Hyères Festival

An exceptional anniversary edition calls for an exceptional place. To officially launch the 35th edition of the Hyères International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Fashion Accessories, the Villa Noailles took over the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Gathered in the Courtyard of the Palais des Etudes, the guests quickly forgot the cold January weather while enthusiastically awaiting the announcement of the Festival’s jury and finalists. Pascale Mussard, president of the Villa Noailles, kicked things off with a short speech on the history of the Hyères institution and the Festival’s success stories which include its role in launching the careers of Viktor & Rolf, Felipe Oliveira Baptista and Anthony Vaccarello, among others. Next, moving words from Jean-Pierre Blanc, who created the Festival 35 years ago and this year was placed under the high patronage of the President of the Republic. Then came the long-awaited moment: the announcement of the jury. Starting with photography and a round of applause for jury President Paolo Roversi who jury will include Carla Sozzani, Emanuele Coccia, Jérôme Gautier (Christian Dior) and Adrian Joffe (Comme des Garçons). Next up: fashion accessories, whose jury will be presided over by Lesage’s artistic director, Hubert Barrère, accompanied by Yaz Bukey, Magda Danysz, Nicolas Maury, Joana Preiss and Géraldine Nakache (who, Breaking news, “Someone just whispered in my ear this very moment, has just joined the jury,” said Jean-Pierre Blanc). Finally, the founder of the Festival announced the fashion jury, chaired this year by designer Jonathan Anderson (Loewe), accompanied by Amanda Harlech, Tim Blanks, Arnaud Valois, Benjamin Bruno, Derek Blasberg, Kaia Gerber, Michel Gaubert, Olivier Gabet, Ronnie Newhouse, Olivier Lalanne, Tyler Mitchell, and the latest winner Christoph Rumpf. The evening continued with a presentation of the finalists’ work. The 35th edition of the Hyères International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Fashion Accessories will take place from April 23rd-27th at the Villa Noailles, complete with a new prize this year: the Hermès Fashion Accessories Award for the creation of a leather jewel.
