The 10th Gala of the Paris Opera Celebrates the Unparalleled Grace of Dance
Launching the dance season, the Gala is one of the Paris Opera’s key events. On the stage of the Palais Garnier, the traditional Ballet Parade brings together the students of the Ballet School, all the dancers of the Company, and for the first time, the dancers of the Junior Ballet.
This will be followed by two works by William Forsythe: Rearray, a duet created in 2011 making its repertoire debut in a new version, and Blake Works I, created for the Paris Opera Ballet in 2016 to electro-songs by James Blake.
Finally, the Opera presents for the first time the dreamlike world of Swedish choreographer Johan Inger with IMPASSE, questioning the relationship between the group and the individual and set to colourful music by Ibrahim Maalouf and Amos Ben-Tal, and My’Kal Stromile’s creation Word for Word in costumes designed by CHANEL, patron of the Paris Opera alongside ROLEX.
During this exceptional evening, we had the pleasure of meeting Étoiles dancers Guillaume Diop, Paul Marque, Bleuenn Battistoni, Hugo Marchand, Sae Eun Park and Dorothée Gilbert, but also Lupita Nyong’o, Charlotte Le Bon, Charlotte Casiraghi, Clémence Poesy, Harry Nuriev, Agathe Mougin, and Emmanuel Perrotin.
