The Fondation Cartier Celebrates its 40th Anniversary
Founded in 1984 by Alain Dominique Perrin at the suggestion of artist César, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain is now proudly celebrating its 40th anniversary. It is a place for dialogue and encounters: artists play a central role, as the institution comes up with unique ways of embracing all areas of contemporary creation and opening up the field of possibilities. At the end of 2025, the Fondation Cartier will leave the building on Boulevard Raspail and begin the third great chapter in its history with the inauguration of its new space, designed by architect Jean Nouvel on the Place du Palais-Royal in Paris. This 40th anniversary is the perfect opportunity to have a look at its history through an exceptional series of podcasts, and to pay tribute to the people without whom none of this would have been possible.
Proud of its past, but focused on its bright future, the Fondation continues to write the history of contemporary art.
