Galleria Continua Inaugurates its New Parisian Home During Art Basel

This is a milestone for the most international of Italian contemporary art galleries: Galleria Continua opens its new space in Paris, following its first location in the Marais. Situated at 108 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in one of the most vibrant areas of the French art market, the new venue spans around 70 square meters. In this new space on Monday evening, during Art Basel week, the gallery took the opportunity to host the opening of the exhibition Guerre et Paix.

On display is a transhistorical dialogue between two giants of past and present art: on one side, Giorgio Morandi, one of the most important painters in 20th-century Italian history; on the other, Adel Abdessemed, an artist who has long been committed to depicting the ills of our time through impacting sculptures and installations.

The Franco-Algerian artist is also featured just a few meters away at Galerie Aveline with the site-specific exhibition Bas-relief, created in collaboration with Galleria Continua. The double inauguration, enhanced by a scenographic intervention by Jean Nouvel, saw the participation of many representatives of the international art and cultural scene. Among those in attendance were Maurizio Rigillo, Eva Jospin, Mario Cristiani, Jean Nouvel, Giusy Ragosa, Lorenzo Fiaschi, Laura Salas Redondo, Casey Lesser, Thibault Vitry, Vincent Richter, and Sibyl de Vignon.
