Louis Fratino, the Coolest Artist of the Moment, at Centro Pecci
One of the brightest stars in contemporary figurative art, Louis Fratino, has arrived at the Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato. The American artist, highly praised during the last Venice Biennale, now presents “Satura,” a multifaceted journey through dozens of works including sculptures, paintings, drawings, and lithographs.
The exhibition, curated by Stefano Collicelli Cagol, director of the Pecci Center, was inaugurated the other night at the Tuscan exhibition space, whose silhouette recalls certain spaceships. In addition to the artist and Cagol, attendees at the opening included Lorenzo Bini Smaghi, Jahan Khajavi, Sarah Cosulich, Raffaello Napoleone, Enea Righi, Paola and Giovanna Pecci.
Born in 1993 in Annapolis, Louis drew inspiration for his project from Italian artists of the 20th century such as Filippo De Pisis, Felice Casorati, and Carlo Carrà, as well as views of the Tyrrhenian coast, the lights of the Mediterranean, and the poetry of Sandro Penna and Pier Paolo Pasolini. The exhibition will be open until February 2. Missing it would truly be a shame.
