The Delightful Collaboration Between Pharrell Williams And LEGO
Once again, Pharrell proves that his creative universe knows no bounds. His next film, Piece by Piece (2024), is halfway between an animated movie and a music documentary, with an unrivalled cast of celebrities retracing his career. Jay-Z, Daft Punk, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani and Kendrick Lamar: none of the participants could have imagined what was really behind the interviews and interventions the singer asked them to narrate. In anticipation of the film’s release on November 20th, Pharrell unveiled his latest creation at the Espace Niemeyer last night: a space shuttle that will propel us towards the stars. As required by LEGO, you must build this structure of 966 multicoloured pieces yourself, and it will be available for sale this weekend. This is a rare opportunity to mix generations, art and play, and illustrates the multi-disciplinary talent of this outstanding creator.
Later, amidst sculptures by Mr Flower Fantastic and a DJ set by Pedro Winter & Mike Larson, the creative catering by Balbosté, with Moët & Chandon champagne and alcohol-free cocktails by JNPR, gave the presentation the feel of an impromptu Fashion Week party.
The evening’s guests included Harry Nuriev, Mira Mikati, Alero Akuya Dawn, Kristopher Crockett, Cindy Bruna, Stephane Ashpool, Emmanuel Perrotin, Fary, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Thibaut de Longeville.
