MM6: the 2010s have never been cooler

As cool lights meet metallic hues on the runway, even the garments seem deprived of color. MM6 Maison Margiela Spring/Summer 2025 new collection explores the shades of white, which rarely fades into silver-gray, black or denim. The trasformation is all in the materials that become, time after time, shiny, stiff, ripped, and wrap-around.

Much of the inspiration comes from 2010s fashion, as we can see by the large use of maxi belts, low waist, the skinny-cut denim pants with legs entirely covered in rips. And then again on the catwalk we have sleeveless hoodies, V-neck sweaters, vests and short skirts. Also emerging in the casual world of MM6 Maison Margela are several short sheath dresses, some with central zippers, others wrapped in a rigid, transparent, almost aerodynamic structure.

Playing with the styles of the early 2000s is all too easy, elevating what belongs to the style of a decade ago is quite the opposite. In what we might call the Millennial teenage wardrobe, but better, MM6 Maison Margiela brought the 2010’s style to the runway, investigating the eternal comeback of fashion eras. Even of the ones that are just behind us. On the front row were, among others: Normani, Aron Piper, Shaleeta ‘SheShe’ Pandleton e Khalid.
