Dreamlike Atmospheres and Expanded Volumes on the JW Anderson Catwalk
Where exactly does the line between genius and impostor lie? This is one of the questions that can be raised by a JW Anderson Fashion Show. Arguably, the fact that a designer’s work makes people raise these kinds of questions in 2024 is already a positive sign. With each collection, the bar is raised higher, as he develops the brand’s aesthetic in increasingly spectacular and experimental ways. His predilection for oversized shapes is exaggerated with unprecedented virtuosity in the two collections on the show, men’s Spring Summer 2025 and women’s Resort 2025. The catwalk is transformed into a dreamlike display of overblown shapes and sizes, from quilted coats to fluffy down jackets, and oversized bomber jackets. Many pieces are set to become iconic, particularly the knitwear, which always offers some surprises, like the cardigans decorated with the facades of Georgian houses, but above all, the star of the show were the sweaters and sweatshirts in collaboration with Guinness, the undisputed symbol of Irish culture.
