Challengers Paris Premiere at the Champs-Élysées
Last Saturday, we attended the Paris premiere of Challengers. The highly-anticipated film was screened at the iconic UGC Normandie des Champs-Élysées, treating spectators to a spellbinding glimpse of this sports drama.
The film stars Zendaya, acclaimed for her roles in hits like Euphoria, Spider-Man, Dune or Malcolm & Marie, who has undergone strict training to portray her character as faithfully as possible. Alongside the American actress are Mike Faist, recently seen in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, who plays Art, and Josh O’Connor as Patrick, best known for his role in The Crown.
Directed by Luca Guadagnino, best known for Call Me by Your Name and Bones and All, which are set to become culture films, Challengers is a new chapter of the romantic drama genre that has made his name. Tennis reveals itself as the perfect playground for exploring human relationships and the passions driving each character.
The story revolves around Tashi, a former tennis player turned coach, who is set to revamp the career of her husband, Art. To do this, she pushes him to partake in a Challenger tournament, where he finds himself up against his former best friend, Patrick. This encounter with the past will make old tensions resurface…
Featuring an original soundtrack by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the film is bound to deliver a highly immersive cinematic experience with strong emotional overtones.
Challengers is a must-see film of 2024, skilfully combining drama, romance and sporting passion. At the premiere, we met Ana Girardot, Guillaume Diop, Pierre de Maere, Ellen Von Unwerth, Farida Khelfa and many others.
