The Peruvian artist Daniela Ortiz is at the center of the new collaboration between Arte Fiera (Bologna, from 2 to 4 February) and the Furla Foundation thanks to the performance “Tiro al Blanco”. Imagine a shooting gallery stand, but forget the usual balls and classic amusement park targets. This time the targets are logos of companies that produce weapons. The project points the finger at them and at the hegemony of the North over the South of the world, with a special focus on the military industry. An interesting part of the artistic project is represented by the prizes. No soft toys or lottery tickets, but colorful wooden puppets and finger puppets inspired by the heroes of the fight against capitalism, imperialism and colonialism such as Daniel Guerin or Frantz Fanon. The real gem, however, is the role of the audience, no longer a simple spectator but an active part of the performance. In fact, even visitors can symbolically overthrow the system, hitting the targets and taking home a piece of history against oppression. The game thus becomes a tool to make people reflect and stimulate critical thinking. By Germano D’Acquisto
