On the one hand a Teutonic house, known for its austere and orderly style like Braun, on the other a British designer who is a master of color and creativity like Paul Smith. The union of these two realities, so distant and so close, has given life to two limited editions (only 100 examples on the market) of the BN0279 by Braun. Editions that are nothing other than the transposition, in “flesh and blood”, of an ambitious challenge: to make the style of one company coexist with that of the other, always remaining in harmonious balance. The first model is a 40mm matte silver stainless steel two-hander with small seconds and date, powered by an ETA 2895-2 movement. The other, in a 40mm gunmetal-colored case, has central hour, minute and seconds hands plus the date, driven by ETA’s 2892A2 movement. The design of the two new models, presented at the end of November, is not that far from the previous collaborations between Braun and Paul Smith. Both adopt the signature Braun look (which only started making mechanical watches in Switzerland earlier this year) with clean dials and minimal branding. Sir’s touch. Smith, however, immediately stands out in the small logo with the iconic colored stripes of the brand on the dials and hands. “Braun products are so beautiful – explained the designer – that I have always preferred not wanting to change almost anything Adding just a little of our atmosphere…”. The Paul Smith + Braun BN0279 timepieces are on sale for $950 on the site paulsmith.com and in selected Paul Smith stores and braun-clocks.com. By Germano D’Acquisto
