The two Michelin star restaurant “Seta” is transformed into an enchanted landscape, dominated by multicolored fish, curious owls, skies dominated by clouds of all shapes and forests as dense as they are seductive. Responsible for this magical transfiguration are Mandarin Oriental Milan and Fornasetti who return to collaborate by presenting the restyling of Saletta Duomo, a welcoming private space of the restaurant led by Chef Antonio Guida inside the Mandarin Oriental Milan. More than in a venue, it almost feels like entering a dreamlike space, dominated by all the most classic motifs of the Italian design brand. The Saletta Duomo, which can accommodate a maximum of eight people, is like a treasure chest and draws inspiration from the “Duomo sommerso” panel, created by Piero Fornasetti in 1951. The restyling transports the visitor among marine animals and small inhabitants of the forest thanks to the wallpaper Leaves and Owls applied to every square centimeter of wall. The dense pattern of Veronese green leaves then makes the environment similar to an intimate and welcoming forest. The decorative project continues with a selection of plates from the Cupole d’Italia series, a tribute to Italian architecture created by Piero Fornasetti himself. And it ends with the marine theme of the twin corner cupboards, characterized by the now legendary face of Lina Cavalieri, who Piero loved to define as the “most beautiful woman in the world”. The soprano’s face seems to invade an imaginary illustrated atlas of marine biology where madrepores, algae, fish and shells peep out. Finally, the delicate Nuvolette decoration is positioned on the ceiling, one of the most famous themes of the brand. By Germano D’Acquisto
