LA GRANDE ÉPICERIE DE PARIS Celebrates its Centenary
Let’s start with a bit of history. This adventure takes us back to 1923, when it was just a simple shelf, a humble “gourmet corner” in the Bon Marché. It quickly grew larger and, ultimately, emancipated. In 1933, it became a food market with aisles dedicated to all culinary domains, and in 1934 its first manufacturing laboratories were set up. After the Second World War, it started importing international products to offer Parisians new flavours. On 10 October 1979, “La Grande Épicerie de Paris” became the official name of the shop, which was double its size in 1964. To celebrate its ninetieth anniversary, the shop got a completely new decoration, restoring its magnificent Art Deco façade. In 2017, La Grande Épicerie de Paris opened its second store on the right bank, on rue de Passy. 2023 marks the centenary of the boutique and is a great opportunity to celebrate its gourmet delights!
At the inauguration party, we ran into Valérie Bonneton, Angèle Ferreux-Maeght, Chantal Thomass, Mina Soundiram and Chef Andreas Mavromatis.
