Fondation Alaïa x Orveda: When Fashion Excellence Meets Beauty Innovation
This was undoubtedly one of the highlights of Paris Fashion Week: we saw the birth of a new kind of fashion prize, “The Fondation Azzedine Alaïa x Orveda Award”. Two prizes are to be awarded every year to two young fashion designers, who will also be granted access to the foundation’s archives.
The first laureate of this exceptional award was announced by the masters of ceremony over a sumptuous private dinner gathering celebrities and leading figures in the fields of beauty and fashion from all over the world. This year, the winner is South African designer Luke Radloff, who has won over the fashion world with his brand “Uni Form”, launched in 2019. His slow fashion collection has caught our attention thanks to its modular, trans-seasonal pieces, which also demonstrate the brand’s unique and sustainable craftsmanship.
The winners will be granted a residency at the Foundation in Paris and privileged access to the Alaïa archives, a monumental collection curated for over 50 years, as well as to the Alaïa studio. This exceptional opportunity will also offer them mentoring from Parsons Paris and his support for the creation of a collection in the designer’s name, to be unveiled the next Fashion Week.
This year’s winner was selected by a panel of experts including Carla Sozzani, President of the Alaïa Foundation and its Managing Director, Olivier Saillard, as well as the Director of Parsons Paris, Marco Pecorari, creative advisor Sara Sozzani Maino, and Nicolas Vu, co-founder of Orveda.
