The Palais Galliera Devotes its Latest Exhibition to Azzedine Alaïa
On Tuesday 26 September, at the height of Paris Fashion Week, the Musée de la Mode de Paris unveiled its latest exhibition, a tribute to Azzedine Alaïa. The exhibit dresses a portrait of Azzedine Alaïa not only as a couturier but also as an exceptional collector. He curated a private collection of over 20,000 pieces documenting an emblematic period for couture and its highest exponents, 140 of which are now on show.
Some of the prestigious names behind the curated pieces include Cristobal Balenciaga, Gabrielle Chanel, Jeanne Lanvin, Christian Dior, and Elsa Schiaparelli. We won’t be missing contemporary design either, as the exhibit also features pieces by Yohji Yamamoto, Jean Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler, Alexander McQueen and many others. This retrospective narrates the great history of fashion and all its layers!
On the opening evening, we had the pleasure of meeting Suzy Menkes, Chantal Thomass, Emmanuel Coccia, Sarah Andelman, Carla Sozzani, and Olivier Saillard.
