JW Anderson Revisits Classics
JW Anderson is ready for a fresh start and the maxim is to keep it simple, at least on a surface level. The designer’s proposal for the Spring-Summer 24 menswear and Women’s Resort 24 collection was a refreshing revisit of classics. While silhouettes were more standard than those of previous seasons, they kept the unmistakable Jonathan Anderson creative signature. Bermuda shorts, for instance, feature a side flap that adds movement to the look, a design element also present in several shirts. Three-dimensional garments are also to be found in the form of large wool balls attached to the knitwear pieces, polka dots, and the superposition of V-necks, bodies, vests and dresses. The catwalk backdrop resembled a labyrinth of white and blue tonalities, reminiscent of the Cornishware motif, adorned with traditional English cooking utensils in homage to their 100th anniversary. This distinct colour palette was also reflected in some garments, such as the classic lightweight wool rugby polo shirt. Among the personalities attending the show, we saw Netflix stars Kit Connor and Asa Butterfield, Gottmik, Marcos Fecchino, Jacob Rott, Mattia Stanga, Nils Kuesel and Ghali, among many others.
