It’s a far cry from a conventional watch, yet there’s nothing shocking about it, as we are dealing with a reinterpretation of the legendary “Casquette” model. Originally launched by Swiss watchmaker Girard-Perregaux in 1976, this precious timepiece already announced its unorthodox nature through cutting-edge features like a tubular LED display. Revisiting this disruptive piece called for an equally daring partner: Yves Saint Laurent. The result of this Swiss-French alliance takes quite an innovative, and highly exclusive form, as this re-edition of the Casquette is limited to only 100 pieces. Unlike its predecessor, the Casquette 2.0 Saint-Laurent 01 has a chronograph and can also display the time in a different location. Additionally, the Girard-Perregaux ‘GP’ logo has been modified and the case back, clasp and pushers have been darkened in black PVD titanium. In February 2022, a re-edition of the original Girard-Perregaux Casquette with a scratch-resistant black ceramic case and titanium case back was presented in a limited edition of 820 pieces as a tribute to the total production of 8,200 pieces launched in the 1970s: the watch sold out within two hours of its release, with a sale price of $4,700. The Casquette 2.0 Saint-Laurent 01 will be available exclusively in Saint-Laurent Rive Droite shops in Paris and Los Angeles and on the Saint-Laurent Rive Droite web store.
