Zimmermann Transcribes the Nuances of Ruper Bunny’s Art

The color palette may be darker, but the romanticism that emanates from the paintings remains intact. Here lies the magic of Zimmerman’s creations. They levitate. Working in collaboration with the National Victorian Gallery, the Australian designers have transcribed the work of a relatively unknown Australian artist, Rupert Bunny, into a collection that captures the unique glow emanating from his paintings. Floating skirts and draped dresses evoke the artist’s idyllic scenes through a delicate use of lace, sepia transparencies, antique yellows, faded lilac, and macadamia. Zimmermann’s signature is translated into pieces of generous ruffles, airy overlays of tweed, chocolate leather, and wool. Breezy dresses and micro-bustiers are warmed by broad-shouldered suits and cocoon jackets that envelop the silhouettes with a soft touch. A particular accent is placed on denim and vintage washes, textiles that play with contrasts between matte and sleek. Not to forget a double-breasted blazer and embroidered cowboy boots, velvets, and translucent prints. On a background of cream lace shaded with velvet, a long evening gown and small black tunics are also adorned with sparkles. Golden jewellery and opal suns, light emanates from Zimmermann’s collection, omnipresent.
