Blumarine Invents A Modern Joan of Arc
Confident and fierce, a true paladin who fights for her ideas. This is the woman we saw on the runway at Bluemarine’s fall-winter 23/24 show, a modern Joan of Arc. She fights for what she believes in like the heroine of a medieval tale, only she is clad in an armour of sensuality and strength, and protected by metal buckles and leather laces. The catwalk was set aglow by the fiery flames of Blumarine’s ‘B’ logo, which contrasted with the earthy ground on which models marched. And under this light paraded tight-fitting mini-dresses and leggings in draped silver and gold jersey as well as big long coats and bomber jackets with high collars in shearling. At Blumarine, glamour and fierceness go hand in hand. The chiffon is punctuated with leather laces and buckles, jeans are tight-fitting, harem pants are tucked into shearling boots with stiletto heels, and evening dresses come in transparent fire-engine red georgette with raw-edge fringed hems evoking battles faced and won. In this collection extremes not only coexist but thrive, there is no middle ground. The attitude? Provocative. The Blumarine woman has glamour to spare and she is ready to fight. This is a tribute to women, strength and sensuality. It embodies a woman who arms herself with fashion shields to fight and overcome prejudices of the modern world. She is not afraid. She is fearless. She is strong and sexy. Just like the women sitting in the front row, among which we spotted Bianca Balti, Mary Leest, Jessica Wang and Clara.
