Fondazione Sozzani Talks Swinging London with its new Mr and Mrs Clark Exhibition

Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell are to fashion what David Hockney is to figurative art (and it is therefore no coincidence that Hockney depicted them and their cat in the legendary Mr. and Mrs. Clack and Percy at the Tate). This magical and creative couple spoke like no other of the unique spirit of the Swinging London and all that followed it in terms of style and non-conformity. The Sozzani Foundation in Milan dedicates them the “Mr & Mrs Clark. Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell. Fashion and Prints 1965-1974” exhibition in which part of this extraordinary artistic journey is collected. Celia’s with her prints inspired by nature and the artistic avant-garde, on the one hand, and on the other, that of Ossie, who was murdered at the age of 54 by his Italian lover, with his sensual, feminine and revolutionary clothes.

The event began with a refined cocktail party attended by various personalities from the worlds of fashion, design and culture, including François Berthoud, Lauren Lepire, Mauro Simionato, Jacopo Ascari, Kris Ruhs, Mario Stoppini, Douglas Walker, Avshalom Gur, Natacha Slater, Mariuccia Casadio, Marianne Mirage, Marquis, and, of course, Carla Sozzani, who did us the honors of attending. The exhibition is running until April 10: six months where 10 Corso Como looks more like a corner of Carnaby street than it does 10 Corso Como.
