GCDS’ Sexy Aliens Land On Milan For Spring-Summer 23

What if aliens were hot? They would look like those presented by GCDS in the spring-summer 2023 collection. They land on earth aiming to conquer Milan Fashion Week. Beautiful, proud, colourful, irreverent and obviously sexy. A collection that stands for diversity, beauty and richness and that conceals a strong message: the feeling of being an alien. A common sentiment for many of us in our transitional generation, looking for meaning in a constantly changing world. Sometimes we feel like aliens in the places that we once called home. The show is rich in colours, because people’s richness is in the nuances. The catwalk becomes a huge Disco Alien which takes the audience into an extra-terrestrial dimension. The rhythm of the show is set by a beat that is an ascending climax to a stroboscopic summer night.

We are in a surreal alien summer, in a surreal disco alien club, and the players wear skimpy swimwear, skintight catsuits like glaring second skins, glistening sequins that make surfaces dewy, motocross gear in bright hues, lurex and rib knit aplenty, fluorescence and sparkle. The fashion show is full of Pop references: from Spongebob, on Bianca Balti yellow dress – who opened the show, to Wirdo, the fuchsia alien mascot of the show. Aliens, not only on the catwalk but also on the front row. Many international guests came to applaud the GCDS collection including Sita Abellan, Vittoria Ceretti, Carine Roitfeld, Mattia Stanga, Amina Muaddi and Anastasia Karanikolaou.

A collection that is an ode to aliens’ sexiness and extravagance. And “we, the aliens, are here to stay” and slay.
