“La couleur en fugue”: Katharina Grosse takes over the Louis Vuitton Fondation
This spring, the Louis Vuitton Foundation unfolds a burst of colors. At the initiative of Suzanne Pagé, the Foundation’s artistic director, the institution has given Katharina Grosse and Megan Rooney free rein to create two on-site interventions, specifically designed for the exhibition rooms. These original works are presented alongside rare pieces by Sam Gilliam, Steven Parrino and Niele Toroni, who in turn explore their unique relationship with colour. Under the brush of each artist, painting, ripped from its traditional boundaries, overflows its frame and frees the colour, which spreads… In its beautiful escape, it meets Frank Gehry’s architecture, and continually echoes it. On Tuesday evening, Suzanne Pagé and the artists welcomed their guests, including Laurent Le Bon, Thaddaeus Ropac, Fabrice Hyber and Irié, to celebrate this hymn to colour, a must-see at the Fondation Louis Vuitton until 29 August.
