‘Le Mans’ (1971) is without a doubt the film responsible for creating « King of Cool » legend. The film features a masterful Steve McQueen as a race car driver taking part in the legendary French sports car race. It is known that the actor specifically wanted the film to be shot during the real race, which had never been done before. The other breakout star of the film was undoubtedly the brand new and very powerful Porsche 917K with a Flat-12 engine, sponsored by Gulf. This very car will be offered at auction this summer by RM Sotheby’s and is expected to break all the records. The reason is simple: Everything related to McQueen always reaches incredible heights.
