Coleen e-bike X Jean Prouvé : A two-wheeled beauty

When electric bikes start to be as expensive as a motorbike, we know we have to investigate. Supply on this very in-demand market is multiple but not always up to the standard of pricing. When it comes to Coleen, a relatively small French brand based in Biarritz, you have to give credit to the founders, Audrey Lefort and Thibault Halm, for having led their project in the best possible way. It all began with a bike from the 40s designed by Jean Prouvé. While everybody’s familiar with his furniture design, few knew about his work on bikes. Instantly, the two entrepreneurs fell in love with it and decided to take it as inspiration to create a contemporary iteration made of carbon. But contrary to those who are desperately searching for looks, they decided to concentrate on the material’s two main qualities: lightness & rigidity. Associated with the type of aluminum used for planes, this bicycle is still looking like it came from the 40s. Completely connected and linked to a mobile app, this e-bike allows a great autonomy of approximatively 100 kilometers depending on the selected driving mode. This bike has is all: Kevlar belt, hydraulic brakes, leather saddle, and so on. The finishing detail: screws and bolts were especially created for this model, which makes it basically pointless to attempt at stealing some of its pieces – a good point for an object with an average price of 7,000 euros!
