Laura Vidal takes on the Palais de Tokyo’s Creation Dinner
Last year, the Palais de Tokyo launched the “Dîners de la Création” (or Creation Dinners) an annual unique experience to stimulate all five senses by combining contemporary art with fine dining. Each Fall, Paris’ modern art museum invites one or more chefs to create an exceptional dinner in tandem with a current art exhibition with all proceeds helping to finance the exhibition. After last year’s creative dialogue between chef Alexandre Gauthier and art from Tomas Saraceno, this year was its own extended adventure against the backdrop of the current exhibition “Futur, ancien, fugitif.” The Palais de Tokyo opted for a strength in numbers approach by calling on Canadian, Paris-based sommelier Laura Vidal to bring together a group of seven chefs to illustrate the diversity of French gastronomy: Armand Arnal, Yves Camdeborde, Amandine Chaignot, Alexia Duchêne, Manon Fleury, Tamir Nahmias and Céline Pham. This year’s concept: one unique dish, seven different interpretations! Each guest at the table was treated to a different dish. In between wine tastings, Emma Lavigne and Christopher Miles’ guests also enjoyed a private tour of the current exhibition and dinner in the basement in an intimate atmosphere complete with a dance performance. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience for its lucky guests.
