Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Vilebrequin unveil their collection

Born in 1971 on a beach in Saint-Tropez, the story of Vilebrequin is above all a story of seduction (according to the legend, its founder Roland Herlory created his own unique swimsuit to seduce a woman on the beach). More than thirty years after its creation, it was an encounter with designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, this time on a beach in St Barth, that gave them the idea of a collaborative collection, as a continuity to the brand’s founding history. This week, JCC presented the fruit of this collaboration, a true symbiosis between two creative entities that share common grounds (the 70s, color…): a collection of sexy and athletic swimwear and clothing that is worn both on the beach and in the city. Everything is in the details: faithful to his unique creativity, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac presents trompe-l’oeil jerseys, cut-out pieces with an explosion of color. The collection is described as “pop” (a word that often comes up to describe the designer as well) and showcases about forty pieces. Alexia Gredy, Nicolas Maury, Marlon Magnée, Lena Simonne or Clara Berry all came to discover it first-hand during a big party that brought the beach to Paris…
