While the 9, Rue du Plâtre is now known as Lafayette Anticipations (the Galeries Lafayette corporate foundation), a second address was inaugurated this week, that of its store. At 46, Rue Sainte-Croix de la Bretonnerie, À Rebours is “a small novelty shop nourished by the big ambitions of creation” directed and curated by Pauline Vincent. A 100 square-meter space where one finds contemporary objects difficult to acquire elsewhere. For the occasion, artist and curator Lia Rochas-Páris invested this offbeat place with an exclusive installation. In the foundation’s outer courtyard, a performance by artist Jochen Holz welcomed guests such as artists Julien Creuzet and Tarik Kiswanson, Alma Jodorowsky, Emily Marant and designer Arnaud Vaillant. While sharing a drink in and out of the venue, you can’t help but look up and admire the modular architecture designed by Rem Koolhaas, while waiting for the next exhibition to open here on June 20…
