Reinventing spaces: three questions with Studio Quetzal

Constant dialogue allows us to move forward…

Founded in Paris in 2015, Studio Quetzal is a trio of designers exploring the concepts of space and object by seeking to merge them. Winners of theVan Cleef & Arpels Grand Prize as part of the first edition of Design Parade Toulon, Louise Naegelen, Adrien Gadet and Benjamin Lina met at Ecole Bleue. With a collaborative approach, they use constant dialogue to bring their projects to life. This year, they come back to Design Parade to present their latest creations.

How do you manage to create as a trio ? Do you divide your roles?

Most of the time we start from a dream, from a common idea. Then we transform it into a painting, a composition that allows us to understand the essence of the project. Then comes the stage where we transform this dream into reality, we give it a meaning, a function. There is no defined role within the studio, we work together as an entity. It is the constant exchange that allows us to move forward.

How would you say this new installation defines your style?

It allows us, above all, to present once again our universe and the projects we created within this year with the Villa Noailles partners. This scenography is a representation of part of our work and our research.

Which impact had the Van Cleef & Arpels Grand Prize on your career?

The Van Cleef & Arpels Grand Prize has provided us great visibility both among professionals and individuals. It was also a chance to be able to carry out a complete project without limitations. We have earned a relationship of trust with the people we work with.
