When they create Approche, a salon whose object is to restore photography to its rightful place in the field of contemporary art, Emilia Genuardi and Sophie Rivière have a will: “to end the paradigm of a minor art”. Thus from November 9 to 12, while the cultural Paris lives to the rhythm of Paris Photo, the two co-founders invite 14 artists to deliver their contemporary approach of the photographic medium. Behind us Baudelaire’s famous statement (“it’s photography, not art”)! Approach takes the bias of presenting artists whose practice is not simply defined by the use of the photographic medium. A manifesto: contemporary art and photography are not exclusive to each other. With such a strong identity, the result speaks for itself – and the success is there. The faces of Colette Barbier (Fondation d’entreprise Ricard), Claudine and Marion Papillon (Galerie Papillon) and the actor Jean-Pierre Darroussin are crossed in the different rooms of Molière. An exhibition entrusted to curator Léa Chauvel-Lévy to discover without further delay!
