Last October, the mythical “Cahiers d’Art” were revived under the passionate breath of the Swedish collector Staffan Ahrenderg. A renaissance that not only marked the return of the international magazine, but also that of the artistic entity as a whole, namely an art gallery and a publishing house. Saywho, of all parties, accompanied the news to the Lipp Brewery for the grand opening dinner.
Last night, the team laid a new stone in the reconstruction of its legend with the launch of “Calder by Matter”, a book published in collaboration with the Calder Foundation. The book brings together 300 photographs by Herbert Matter – a great friend of the sculptor – who captured his friend’s works at different stages of their creation and who presents the artist and his family in numerous unpublished photographs.
At the same time, Cahiers d’Art exhibits about thirty works by Calder in his germanopratine gallery, including mobiles, stabiles (monumental steel sculptures), bronzes, and gouaches.
The opening extended around the tables of the Bistrot de Paris, a few steps from the rue du Dragon. Saywho once slipped among the guests.
