For the 6th consecutive year, Galeries Lafayette presents the “Vitrines sur l’Art” event. 21 cultural institutions are invited to invest the shop windows of Bordeaux, Marseille, Nantes, Paris and Strasbourg. For this new edition of “Vitrines sur l’Art”, each of the invited museums and art centres is partnering with an artist to create new installations that echo their summer programming. The 23 artists represented offer visitors a panoramic vision of today’s creation and the cultural offer of their city.
On this occasion, Galeries Lafayette invites – for the first time – an artist to create an original work for his illustrious Coupole. Philippe Ramette, signs an installation called “Eloge de la contemplation (Le temps suspendu…)”. A wooden walkway running from a balcony of the store to a platform suspended in the centre of the space from a balloon. On this one: a man, represented by a white sculpture, seems to contemplate the effervescence of an amused eye. The inauguration of a long series, we hope.
The artistic season at Galeries Lafayette was particularly busy: the opening of its Foundation in the heart of the Marais and the presentation of””Venir voir venir”” (before the building was bound by Rem Koolhas), the concept exhibitions by Jean-Paul Lespagnard and Xavier Veilhan in January and June, to close with””Vitrines sur l’Art”” and the original work suspended under the Dome. A sacred program that anchors definitively – for those who still doubted it – the group of the Houzé family at the hyper-center of Parisian artistic life.
