Doucal’s: The Poised Step of Luxury
Dircreet via Gesù, in the heart of Milan’s Fashion District, set the stage on monday night for a new beginning for Doucal’s. The brand unveiled its new boutique — a 120-square-metre space conceived by Palomba Serafini Associati — marking a significant moment in its retail journey. More contemporary residence than mere store, the space privileges refined detailing over facile extravagance. Vicenza stone underfoot, warm walnut with softened edges, and grey walls acting as a neutral backdrop. Here and there, Doucal’s signature “golden cream” punctuates the interior with quiet precision. Every detail is calibrated to enhance the excellence of the collections. The shoes themselves take center stage — whether impeccably polished derbies or supple loafers — designs shaped by British discipline and a distinctly Marchigian soul.
Doing the honours was CEO and Creative Director Gianni Giannini, who described the Milan flagship as “a key milestone in our international retail development strategy.” Among the brand’s friends gathered for the occasion were architect Roberto Palomba and Ludovica Serafini, chef Davide Oldani — orchestrating a gourmet interlude as finely tuned as a hand-stitched sole — and actor Stefano Accorsi. The latter offered an ironic and erudite monologue, co-written with Antonio Losito, celebrating the foot as the silent engine of history — from epic undertakings to intimate revolutions, from Hannibal to Gandhi, with Dante Alighieri in between.
