Chaillot Experience Reveals the Secrets of Flamenco
For over ten years the Chaillot Flamenco Biennale has been hugely successful, presenting a host of prestigious guests that showcase the lasting vitality of the art form. This Chaillot Expérience offered a grand finale with multiple shows blending the ancestral art of flamenco with contemporary aesthetic influences, through both music and dance.
The event also highlighted contemporary creation through several short performances, including ‘While’ by Naya Binghi and ‘Ave de Plata’ by Sara Jiménez, which demonstrate flamenco’s constant evolution, fueled by experimentation and new influences. The program was rounded out by Stephen Bedrossian’s photo exhibit Resonancia(s), which offered a sensitive and deep insight into the bodies, faces, and emotions that come through in flamenco.
Among the iconic moments of conviviality and traditional culture, often reinterpreted through contemporary aesthetics, were the concert by Rosario La Tremendita, the musical and dance performance by Ana Perez and José Sanchez, and the flamenco tablao by Maria Gasca. All of these moments gave the audience a chance to experience the very essence of this living art form, creating a direct connection between artists and spectators.
Finally, workshops and group sessions, open to all, extended the experience by inviting everyone to embrace the rhythms, movements, and spirit of flamenco, making this weekend a time for both sharing and contemplation. This edition of Chaillot Expérience transformed the Théâtre National de la Danse into a place of transmission, thanks to a total immersion in a vibrant culture alongside the artists, dancers, and musicians who keep it alive.
During the festivities, we met Rosario La Tremendita, Rafaela Carrasco, Blanca Li, Naya Binghi, Ana Perez, Maria Gasca, Cristo Cortes, Mr Bacchus, and many others.
