Art Geneve Kicks Off its 14th Edition

Art Genève

In 2026, Art Genève hosted another ambitious edition, bringing together 81 galleries specializing in modern and contemporary art. Fourteen years after the fair’s inception, the calibre of the selected exhibitors ensures a diverse lineup, driven by the uniqueness of their approaches and mediums, ranging from painting and sculpture to video and new digital forms. While the fair remains a major international event, it retains its intimate atmosphere and unifying credo: building bridges, cultivating authenticity, and stimulating and nurturing relationships on a national and international scale.

As usual, the Solo section drew the attention of all visitors, with its numerous solo exhibitions showcased by young Swiss and international galleries. The Prix Solo Art Genève-Piaget rewards every year the best exhibition of this prestigious section. For 2026, the prize went to the gallery Maximillian William, for the presentation of the work of Reginald Sylvester II. For his debut presentation in Switzerland, the American artist presented nine new paintings made on industrial rubber, transformed into evocative abstractions through washes of red pigment and layered surfaces.

To further solidify the Swiss roots of the fair, the Prix Mobilière awards a young artist from Switzerland every year, confirming the salon’s commitment to supporting emerging talent. The 2026 prize went to Cassidy Toner for her work on the dynamics of the art world, which she presents with a touch of self-mockery. Swiss and international institutions, art centers, foundations, and museums contribute to the overall experience, presenting projects specially designed for Art Genève and expanding the exhibition programme. Special mention should be made of the Sur-Mesure section, introduced in 2024, which defies the usual formats by exhibiting large-scale works.

As for the installations and performances of the Art Genève/Musique section, they immersed the audience in sound works that unfolded beyond the walls of the fair. Visitors could then continue their tour in the art publishers’ section, where beautiful books complemented the artworks, and attend conferences that shed light on current issues in the world of contemporary art.

During the opening night, we met Cassidy Toner, Charlotte Diwan, John Armleder, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Jérémy Pradier-Jeauneau, Kathrin Bentele, Céline Poulin, Nicolas Tremblay, Marta Kwiatkowski, Ismene Wyss, among others.
