The Geneva Museum of Art and History Gives Carte Blanche to John M. Armleder

MAH, Genève

For its sixth Carte Blanche, the MAH invites John M Armleder. With more than 500 of his works in its collection, the museum found in him the ideal curator to continue an unprecedented dialogue between heritage and contemporary creation. The result is Observatoires, a thematic journey in which each room explores a different universe—from animals to abstract painting, musical instruments to lighting fixtures. By juxtaposing the MAH’s monumental architecture and its vast collection, Armleder creates a unique display in which each object fits in a way that is as surprising as it is coherent. Supported by ephemeral structures and layers of superimposition, ordinary and aesthetic objects weave a dialogue that constantly generates new possibilities, inviting visitors to wander and compose their own repertoire of ideas and associations.

At the exhibition opening, we crossed paths with the artist John M. Armleder, alongside the director of the MAH, Marc-Olivier Wahler, as well as Michel Rein, Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Wim Delvoye, and Eva Presenhuber.
